Re: Free Stars: Children of Infinity [SPOILERS!]

Actually, it reminds me a bit of some of the artwork I saw in the abandoned Ur-Quan Masters HD project, but better. Maybe once they finish the game and if all goes well, they could remake the original UQM in the same style. If I'm not mistaken, Dczanik (who did the artwork for the HD mod) is one of...

Re: FREE STARS: Children of Infinity crowdfunding on Kickstarter NOW (until May 17th 2024)

Looks like the voice acting goal has been met! And I waited until the last possible minute practically, but I've put in my backing. I've never kickstarted anything before, and have been soured on the concept of pre-ordering for a long time, but this might have been the only project that could have e...

Re: Free Stars: Children of Infinity [SPOILERS!]

Shifting topics, I find it interesting that the first image in the thread appears to depict SC3-esque "streamlined" Eluders. Considering there are only silhouettes and little detail, they could possibly be something else, but the resemblance is pretty remarkable.

Re: Free Stars: Children of Infinity [SPOILERS!]

Humans being in the top dogs is more plausible, but still iffy. While ten years is a serious length of time for us, it is minuscule on galactic scale and at the end of UQM there were other Alliance members more numerous and technological to be "major" races... Don't underestimate the impa...

Re: Channel 44 snippets.

It's often really tough to distinguish what looks good on paper vs. what actually works in practice. Having a level of creative control where you're able to cut content that isn't working well or ends up not making the game more fun or interesting is really important (instead of being forced to comm...

Re: The Campfire

Is that a Raspberry Pi? I only guess that because I can see the logo on the PCB, I'm no electronics expert. Whatever it is, it looks complex enough that it undoubtedly does something cool.

Re: StarCon Footage (The Cancelled Star Control 4)

Yeah, both Starcon and the flash game are more or less historical footnotes to the series. Both were more about maintaining the brand (for Accolade to spin into their own series without TFB in StarCon's case, before apprently realizing that was super hard to do, and just for trademark retention in t...

Re: Still kicking. Kind of.

Yeah, insurance sucks in general, it's literally gambling against yourself. And like all the worst games, you can't win, you can't break even, and you can't even quit the game.

Re: Still kicking. Kind of.

Yeah, well, it's asking a lot of an industry you pay to not give you money when you need it to not pull every trick in the book to hang onto every penny. Medical care in the US is badly broken, and at least half the problem is the insurance industry.

Yeah, he is doing much better, officially in remission, but as mentioned they are going to be monitoring him for signs of recurrence for 5+ years.
