Re: Political Discussion Megathread

In my view, a credit score (rating), an interest rate and incurred debt are the three key components to using a credit card. Government borrowing has those three key ingredients as well, thus the analogy stands. I refuse to believe you are that anal retentive over somthing so trivial. Do you get agi...

Re: Political Discussion Megathread

Symantics. 'Semantics', I presume? It makes sense to dismiss an argument as irrelevant semantics when it's a counterargument and does not address the original point, or if it raises a distinction without a difference . My comment was neither. Word choices - especially this sort of extreme dysphemis...

Re: The YouTube Thread

By "we" I believe he means the United States. That picture looks like it's from a right-wing e-mail to me and I'm not too sure the numbers jive with reality. The problem as I see it is that the United States government didn't save during good times when the economy was booming and we continued to ru...

Re: Mars by 2023

Viking expiriments: http://news.discovery.com/space/viking-mars-organics-experiment.html But it is my understanding that the Viking results were controversial becuase some scientists thought the experiments returned a false reading and that the Mars soil may have just been chemically reacting to the...

Re: Mars by 2023

I read an NPR article about Curiosity's find being "one for the history books". But we'll have to wait a few weeks for confimation and peer review. I'm guessing Curiosity will just be confirming what Viking already told us in the 70's; that microbial life is indeed present on Mars.
