Re: Sequels strife
So what exactly does “Summary Judgment” do then? I though it was in used lieu of a trial. Or is a trial what happens when the judge has insufficient information to rule? In a court case, there are usually two types of questions to be answered: Questions of fact, i.e. "What actually happened?", and ...

Re: Sequels strife
What happens in October? Or was that an arbitrary date? (And why does this feel like a pun?) That's when the summary judgement motions need to be filed, where both sides need to clearly spell out their legal arguments, so that the Judge can rule on them in November. After that, there's a mandatory ...

Re: Sequels strife
...the impression I’m getting from his emails and such is that he felt he had bought himself a lot of favor and credit with his fandom. He had. People were genuinely thrilled that a new SC game would finally be made, and many of the original fans became Stardock "Founders". But much of that fan ent...

Re: Sequels strife
Apparently, SCO is off GOG again, something about P&F DMCAing GOG’s ISP? Anyone have any insight? All we know at this point is that the game is no longer available on GOG. We don't have any reliable information about the cause until/unless it shows up in a court filing, or somebody posts actual doc...

Re: Sequels strife
...Ford's (alleged) refusal to hand over evidence before his deposition, thus making it more difficult for Stardock's attorneys to find stuff in the material they can ask questions about during the deposition. P&F are making similar complaints (p3): 10 Unfortunately, Stardock failed to comply with ...

Re: Sequels strife
Anything we can take away from that or is that pretty standard procedure? Not much, other than that the Judge(s) appear to be running out of patience with this procedural bickering, and are unlikely to look well on the parties attempting to delay or complicate things further without a very good rea...

Re: Sequels strife
To English, please? https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/6239751/106/stardock-systems-inc-v-paul-reiche-iii/ Stardock was trying to get a last minute delay on Brad's deposition. P&F opposed a delay , and the Judge denied Stardock's request , so Brad was presumably deposed yesterday (Monday, Feb 11)...

Re: Sequels strife
https://www.scribd.com/document/398564711/Letters-from-Stardock-to-Valve-and-GOG-regarding-DMCA-claims-of-Ford-and-Reiche Note that that was Stardock's argument to Valve and GOG about why they should put the games back up. It does not necessarily mean that Valve and/or GOG agreed with that argument...

Re: Sequels strife
One thing I do wonder about, why did Paul and Fred decline buying the Star Control trademark from Stardock? Was it just because of the cost? They probably thought Stardock overpaid for it, so even though they were offered it "at cost", they didn't consider it worth the price. And if so, how would t...
