So, what were/are you favourite games?

Anything that isn't Star Control. Mind your manners!

Since this has cropped up again, I may as well add in that I've been playing a ton of Streets of Rage Remake lately (ever since I discovered that v5 was actually released before Sega pulled the plug on it), and it is an amazing game and tribute to one of the classic side scrolling beat-em-ups that ruled the early '90s. Shame that the entire genre is basically dead now.

Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention Final Fantasy Tactics the last time I listed games. I've clocked hundreds of hours on that game, and it's still amazing even today.

Hey you left out forum flame wars! I guess that's not something a moderator emeritus should admit to.

I second River Raid and Joust, and wish to add Snoopy and the Red Baron (play got repetitive long before you got a gold kill marker, but it was a fun game - fun enough that at least once I got up to a blue kill marker, and had something like 10 lives accumulated)

Also, Solaris was quite something. Sort of a proto-SC2, actually, in the same way Adventure was a proto-Zelda. The most complicated Atari game I ever encountered. It was overwhelming for my little 11-year-old brain. If I'd taken notes... maybe I'll find it on emulation and give it a shot again.

Nice! Will Wright's first game before he went on to create SimCity and made globs of cash. I call it SimCity 0, personally. My huge collection of over 50 Sim games won't be complete unless I get the Commodore version of ROBB on Ebay or something..

My favorites for each game system:

Anybody remember Intellivision? My favorite game for that system was "Night Stalker".

PC Games:
*Starflight 1 & 2 (I recommend these to anybody who likes space exploration, alot more "raw" than Star Control)
Sierra Games! King's Quest Series (favorite was King's Quest III), Space Quest Series (favorite was Space Quest III), Police Quest Series
Civilization IV (fun, but almost too addictive!)
Battle Chess (still play when I'm itching for a game of chess!)

Arcade:
Street Fighter (original with the big buttons)
Ninja Gaiden (classic)
Gauntlet (if you could get a group of 4...super fun!)
Rampage (only if I get to be Lizzy!)

NES:
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (not dumb Mr. Dream version after Mike went to prison)
Super Mario Bros. (Why are you taking the warp zone to level 3 instead of 4? Turtle time!)
Legend of Zelda (Borrowed my friends hint book in junior high to beat this one)

SNES:
*Shadowrun (Super, awesome, excellent game!)
Street Fighter II (Ha-Do-Ken!)
*Super Metroid (For SNES, great graphics and sound, had a great "feel' to it)
Mortal Kombat I & II (Finish Him!)

Nintendo 64:
Perfect Dark (mentioned earlier; yes, underated indeed)
*Command & Conquer (I've gotta present for ya!)

PS2:
Grand Theft Auto III
Viet Cong: Purple Haze (Loved the Full Metal Jacket Sergeant)
Madden 2004 (best sports game I've ever played)

PS3:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, World at War, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3, Ghosts (yeah, I got hooked on those for awhile - fun, but lose their appeal over time)
Mass Effect 1,2 & 3 (recently bought and currently playing due to positive reviews I've heard from these forums!)
Grand Theft Auto IV (currently playing)
Jurassic: The Hunted (killing dinosaurs is fun!)
The Last of Us (just finished)

Hmmm....am I missing something? Oh yeah! ***Star Control!!!
