So I bought some veal by accident. Rolled it in some spices so that it looked like this:

After frying and basting it looked liek this:

And then the finished product with some potato gratin looked like this

God dammit Luki I've been living on cafeteria food and kebabs for weeks and that's making me so hungry...

Sorry, all gone now. I've spent a few weeks in Germany due to my new assignment, and I'm not going to cook any meat in a while I think. I mean traditional food in Munich is nice and all, but that's a lot of meat, potatoes and beer in a week. Even though barbecue season is open, I'm mostly grilling fish and sometimes chicken.

Lukipela: This is some serious stuff! What kind of spices/herbs did you use?

I crave for shrimps at the moment. Garlic and citrus with some fried rice.

Fresh maple syrup! I have no sugar maple trees, but as it turns out the boring soft maples that grow like weeds around here do just as well. It comes out with a really strong vanilla flavor I've never noticed in commercial maple syrup, quite nice.

You know, I have never once in my life had maple syrup. I guess it's not a huge thing in the UK but I always hear people on American TV talking about maple syrup on pancakes and it's always made me a little jealous.

I just went to canada and totally failed to pick up any maple syrup. An unforgivable oversight!

On the other hand, I did grab several of Tim Horton's maple glaze donuts, so maybe that counts.

Lucky me, in my home town we have an American(US) lady who opened a shop with atuff from her own and her husband's home (he's British), so we have all these specialities.
Pricey, but for every now and then a luxury extra....
