Draxas&Eth: Fair enough, I shall endeavour to give the turkey another try. In the middle of rural eastern finland at the moment, just had a steak with fries. It was pretty boring.

Today's fish is headless bream. Enjoy your meal!

Fresh fish and potatoes for dinner today. And I do mean fresh; my mom had to scale/gut/behead them. Delicious, but disturbing to hear prepared.

I love fresh fish. I hail from a small coastal town and my grandfather used to put out nets on weekends. I've grown up with fresh fish on the table almost every day and there was always a fish or two being gutted in our kitchen.

In fact, I was so used to fresh fish and considered it such a staple that when I moved away from home and started studying, I was absolutley flabbergasted by how much fresh fish costs in the shops. And it wasn't even that fresh!

Something like pike perch with a creamy mmushroom sauce, boiled potatoes and rye bread, that's the closest to heaven you can get in this imperfect world.

I made a steak yesterday. Looked like this, maybe not the best setting. Was delicious though.

What are the things to the right of the steak that aren't mushrooms? Some kind of little rolls, or some potato dish, or something?

Anyway, that looks pretty tasty.

Dunno what they are called, but it's basically mashed potatoes with a crispy surface.

Croquettes, maybe? That's what I'd assume. You make them by mixing mashed potatoes with a little bit of egg and breadcrumbs, and then frying them. Those look deep-fried to me, but you can pan fry them too. It's a good way to use up leftover mashed potatoes, especially if you add a little powdered parmesan cheese to the mix.

It really looks delicious, I'd leave everything that isn't brown on the plate though (actually it wouldn't be there in the first place:) )
