I understand almost nothing at all, as I never played battle card game before.
To be angry is to punish yourself for the errors of others.

Congratulations! So there's a real chance you'll get an internship with your favourite card game producers? Sounds pretty good.

Yep! There are only eight of us left (out of over 1100 entrants). They sure are making me work for it, though! Good planning and time-management, and some great collaborators, saw me through the first challenge. We'll see if the judges like what I did.

Cool. I don't suppose there's anywhere we could vote for you or something? In any case, best of luck!

I'll be sure to let you know if it comes to a popular vote. I'm pretty sure that the official judges have all of the power, though. The audience participation in this contest is that the audience helps the contestants by designing and critiquing cards for them on a wiki.

Right. Since my onlh critique would be "Needs more Star control", I think I'll just lean back and cheer from the sidelines.

Go Eth you magic card wrangler!
Go Eth you opposition mangler!
Go Eth your cards are gold!
Go Eth your moves are bold!
Go Eth we know you'll score!
Go Eth we want to see more!

Well, my Magic-playing friends hate the Memnarch deck now. Mission accomplished I guess, Memnarch is one of the cards that represent the absolute pinnacle of Dave. They tend to condede somewhere around a turn or two after he's hit the field, even if I haven't gone infinite yet. Of course, playing against people who don't want to play against you is a little tricky. My current plan is to work out a deck based on Ajani Goldmane, Arcbounds and Proliferate.

The deck as it stands:
4 Arcbound Worker
4 Arcbound Stinger
2 Dross Scorpion
4 Myr Retriever
2 Sanctum Gargoyle
2 Arcbound Overseer (Currently have 0)
-18 Creatures-
4 Preordain
4 Fabricate
4 Test of Faith
2 Call to Mind
2 Culling Dais
2 Throne of Geth
2 Everflowing Chalice (Currently have 1)
2 Ajani Goldmane (Currently have 1)
-22 other spells-
4 Seat of the Synod (Currently have 0)
4 Ancient Den
6 Plains
6 Island
-20 Lands-
-60 cards total-

I'm a little iffy about Sanctum Gargoyle, as well as having that many Retrievers, so I may find some more Arcbounds to replace them with. I've deliberately avoided Arcbound Ravager, partly for the sake of my wallet and partly because broken things tend to be unfun for at least one side of the table (inb4 "you mean the entire Mirrodin block?").

On the story side of things, I've been reading the Scars of Mirrodin website, and have noticed a cryptic reference in the Phyrexian field reports to 'The Many-Legged One', who they seem to be trying to get on-side. Coupled with the visions one oil- and serum-affected vedalken had of Mirrodin's core, complete with Warden, and I think it's obvious who the main candidate for 'The Many-Legged One' is: Memnarch himself. Could Phyrexia be planning to resurrect him? Or maybe to steal and abuse the Mirari?

Eth, I'm curious what the specific challenges were on the first ten 'preview' cards. I can't seem to find the challenge wording anywhere on the site.

It took a bit of looking, but I found the design test here.
