Oh *frumple* I think i sold the captain's diary for the starmap. It'll make a good poster.

Captain’s Log – Feb 20, 2158 – Zeta Persei 1 – Yellow Alert

I have restored the timeline back to the point where we made a few deals with the Druuge, whereas we trade 2 of our Mycon Deep Children Egg Cases, 1 of which for a Druuge Mauler and the other for the Rosy Sphere! If we wanted to later on we could always return and see if they might be interested in our last Egg Case, but with no ship slot available I don’t want to give them a chance and pull a fast one on us again. Yeah, I’ve seen their devious trade tactics before! No doubt they would take my Egg Case but insist we sold it to them fair and square, and they have met their end of the bargain by providing the agreed number of Maulers we could accept. Hmmm… I wonder what those Druuge do with the Egg Cases? Curious.

I am activating a time portal entry point upon our departure of the planet; that way we can head back to Starbase and get them to analyze our new artifact (and don’t forget to hook it up to the Ultron and have them analyze that too!)

Image

Note to Self: I also need to remember to make a report to security, since after leaving the Druuge Trade World I’ve noticed my diary has come up missing!

We have set course for Sol. Zelnick out.

Captain’s Log – Feb 27, 2158 – Starbase – Status: Docked

The results are back from the lab:

“The analysis reads as follows:
SUBJECT: Rosy Sphere Device.
DATA:
The specimen is 5 centimeters in diameter,
perfectly smooth…
…and composed of a blood-red translucent substance.
Tests show that it has atypical ferro-magnetic
properties, but is utterly non-conductive.
SUMMARY: Probably a Precursor tool – function
unknown.”

Then we got all of the scientists together to figure out how to attach the Rosy Sphere, the final piece of the puzzle, onto the Ultron, After about 3 hours of poking and prodding (not to mention going back in time several times to avert the Ultron’s accidental destruction during the process) we have finally got the Ultron fixed! Yeah, and it just screwed in to one of the pointy ends, and we didn’t even figure that out until we had left starport!:

“The analysis reads as follows:
SUBJECT: Ultron.
DATA:
We have determined that the so-called ‘Ultron’
is in fact the ‘Appendages of Dawn’
described in the Precursor fragment found on Rigel
in 2123.
In the partially translated Precursor text, the device
is described as a ‘Mental Amplifier’
which focuses mental energies of the holder ‘for the
purpose of discreet change’.
Unfortunately, human brain emanations do not seem
compatible with the Ultron…
…nor do those of the allied species we have tested.
SUMMARY: Perhaps the Utwig, who claim to understand
this device, can shed some light…
…on its true function and power.
That’s the end of our scientists’ report.”

One other note: We have christened our Druuge Mauler (the winner of the ship’s pool) the H.M.S. Genie Bottle.

We should probably head immediately back to the Utwig and present them with the Ultron… but there’s one other thing I have to do first. Captain out.

That's... rather sarcastic.
Who will be the genie you're pushing in the bottle?
How many genies will you push into the bottle?
How many more will need to fit into the bottle until you've freed Earth?

The final sacrifice.... Not naming them Freedom Heroes, Martyrs for the New Alliance/Federation of Free Stars but calling those pushed/walking into the bottle "Genies".... Hmm.. I don't think many in the crews will like that.
(I also never understood why the crew complement of that ship (Mauler) is so small...)

Mutiny control?

Because the crew pod is that tiny little green thing jutting off of the side, and they're already squeezed in like sardines?

Sure, space is an issue.
But for caged animals, eh, lined up competent workmen you don't need much space anyway. They also don't need to move around.

But from the proposals, I like Alvarin's best, as it seems the most likely one.

I thought they explain that when you sell one.
