Re: Ghosts of the Precursors
I feel like the twenty fifteen years I wasted hanging around this forum have finally paid off.
EDIT: I looked it up, and it's been over 15 years. Wow.

And another games magazine article about this:

Ah well, their twitter feed seems to make a good job retweeting interesting links: https://twitter.com/Dogar_And_Kazon

The.. wha... The stars have aligned, finally, huh?
I don't think anyone amongst us ever thought we'd live to see this day.

Not gone. Drifting in the flow of the world, observing.

Re: Ghosts of the Precursors
I am pleased. Will I be able to beat it without a cheat guide? I will try.
Re: Ghosts of the Precursors
Oh, I will try.
And I'll be happy enough, if they keep the original SC2 feel, since this seems to become an indie production/side project, without the full devpower of modern games.
Basically a kind of Project 6014.
I always thought of amending the game by changing the "hyperspace angle" through new technologies, thus creating a different map of local space. Depending on the angle, some stars may be still accessible, some may not... That way you can introduce new stars an aliens, without having to explain why they've not been discovered in SC2.
but I am looking forward to flying a MarkII!

Re: Ghosts of the Precursors
it's really hard to make a real sequel because the game doesn't dry up well for the general population.
the game is too hard, and mineral mining too tedious. and the kohr-ah death march is a thing that is absolutely not done these days.
that, and I really hope that they don't make it a kiddy's game
. We've grown up, please no skylanders with SC2 races
!

Re: Ghosts of the Precursors
Honestly, I expect something similiar in quality as SC2. Not adapted to modern games. More or less exactly like SC2.
Likely even on the same engine basis, just like Project 6015 (?) tried.
And I assume they will not be allowed to use an Skylander code.
They will be doing SCII+ on their own time, not company time.
So they will likely not be allowed to use company ressources for that.
I'll be happy enough if the sequel targets only former SCII players, and is not specifically targeting new players.
Targeting new pleyers who never played SCII before would be storywise also much more difficult to do.
But I hope they'll keep us a bit in the loop. I've "subscribed" to their twitter channel in the hope for more news.

Re: Ghosts of the Precursors
SO it's a charity project without any real budget?
Re: Ghosts of the Precursors
It surely isnˋt an Activision project.
Edit: these tweets say it all:

@Fred and Paul wrote:Yes. The game is starting as the previous ended, 25 years ago, with just the two of us.
I am so looking forward to their result!@Fred and Paul wrote:As TFB grew, we became further and further removed from development. We have missed that and thought this a good way to return.
