Well since I have to reboot this thread I'll use the opportunity for a quick report.

Things are going pretty well. Without giving anything much away we have a "new" race implemented, as well as a fully functioning new dimension. Some choice dialogue too.

While these features are all very exciting they dont get us any closer to a demo as they won't be in the demo. The only major thing that's holdings us back for demo release is comm screen art/graphics (Earthling and Syreen). Well that, and somehow figuring to reduce the minieral to trace amounts on the "old sector" stars.

The explorer vessel is usable in melee, but it dosent have any weapons yet so its not particularly formidable.

OK - here is the link to the thread fomr the old board:

And here is the link to the thread at UQM. This is actually the official thread, is this project is a mod of UQM.

And here is a link the the FrungyLovers bit:

I wish I could hep you with graphics, but alas I am incompetent in that department. I'm really looking forward to the demo though, I've already got the news post half written up :)

Wow if I had an art contribution for every time someone had made that exact post (well the first sentience) we’d be just about there.

I should probably migrate the basic explanation of this project over from the old forum.

Yeah, I can imagine. Graphics are hard to come by, even with a silver tongue.

I’m beginning to think that it might require actual silver

I tried to make something for the earthling before but never got very far, least not that looked very good. You were looking for the Comm Screen for the cruiser right?

I'll give it another wack Image

Update:
Extreme WIP but to give you an idea. Figured there should be consoles like in the melee image and that the "dome" of the ship should be in the background, semi-transparent so they can see whats going on in a fight.

Hey, good news and bad news...
Good news is that I got my computer working again(Which means graphics!)...bad news is that I lost all my links so I have had to upload an image which has been jpeged(Fixed now) by the site...(and I can't get the spoiler tags to work)

I am thinking Chmmr, but could also be Acsended Zot-Fot-Pik, or A Spathi Bluff(For some reason I had to laugh when I thought about one of the spheres saying 'Greetings Hunam') or any number of things.

The only problem (supposing you like it) would be animation, I thought about the spheres flashing or moving, but, because its rendered, it would cause the background to change with it...But at this stage it is a just a sample piece and if you want to tell me how I can improve it then please do. :D

That looks pretty cool, hey you could make it a Slylandro ship, if you put them into the spheres.
